On 2010-04-07, I received the following email from Jonathan Corbett, who appears to run a computer consulting company in New York called FourTen Technologies, Inc.
Return-Path: <email@example.com> From: Jonathan Corbett <firstname.lastname@example.org> To: "email@example.com" <firstname.lastname@example.org> Date: Wed, 7 Apr 2010 02:25:31 -0400 Subject: hello Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="_000_F402DE3161C1B94EA04F96256F72339601F37A0AA79Dbritney1fou_" MIME-Version: 1.0 --_000_F402DE3161C1B94EA04F96256F72339601F37A0AA79Dbritney1fou_ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Just a note that you're a fucking moron for blocking IE users from visiting= your site. I did remove most of the headers, and the entire body of the HTML portion of the message (which appeared to just be a second copy of the same message, what a waste of bandwidth), but otherwise this is the exact message I received. If you really want to see the original message, click here.
I should point out that, until just now, I had never heard of this guy or his company, and as of the time I'm writing this page (2010-04-07 1015 EDT) I have not received any other contact from him. In other words, this was a totally unsolicited message.
I just figured I would post the message here, complete with links to his web site (which apparently gives it a better chance of showing up in Google searches) so that in the future if anybody happens to google the name "Jonathan Corbett", the company name "FourTen Technologies", or the domain name "fourtentech.com", they can see first hand what an unmitigated jerk this guy is, and take that into account when deciding whether or not they want to do business with him.
For the record, I did not, and have no intention to, respond to his emails. At some point in the future, Mister Wonderful will find this web page, and maybe at that point he'll think about the side effects of being such a jerk. If he wants to apologize at that point, I'm willing to listen, and I will post his apology if I receive one, but I make no guarantees about the possibility of totally removing this page from the web site - especially since, by that time, many other search engines (including Google) will already have cached copies of the page, some of which will never go away.
2010-07-08 I received another email from this guy today. I don't know if he saw this page or not, but the second message is just as immature as the first. I'm adding it here with the first one.
I have no idea what I ever did to make this guy hate me so much, but it must be nice to have enough time to keep sending notes like this to total strangers. Most people have better things to do with their time, I know I do. I would love to never have to add any more messages to this page - all it would take is for this guy to grow up, act like a professional, and stop giving me content for this page.
And for the record... I just searched Google for the word "fourtentech". The first two hits are his own site, and this page is number three. I'm guessing that, by now, at least one of his potential clients will have seen this page, and decided to take their business elsewhere. After all, if this is how the CEO acts, who's to say how the rest of the company is going to act?

Again, most of the headers and all of the useless HTML have been removed. Here is the original message if you want to see it.
I guess all I can say is, the more messages he sends, the more I'll keep posting them. The more times the name "Jonathan Corbett" and "Four Ten Technologies" appear on this page, the more likely this page is to appear in search engine results for those names. It's not really bothering me, but it is creating a bit of bad press for the company by showing their prospective clients what kind of a person this "Jonathan Corbett" really is, and possibly what kind of conduct they can expect if they do business with his company.
You'd think somebody who claims to be a professional would have thought of this, before sending abusive emails to total strangers for no reason.
I've also added a link to this page, from the front page of my site. I hadn't done this before, so the only way anybody would have seen it before now is if they happened to have done the right Google search. Now, with the link up there, it will be much easier for the world at large to find this page.
